N-Methylpyrrolidone, abbreviated as NMP, has a molecular formula of C5H9NO and is known as 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone in English. It appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a slight ammonia odor. It is miscible with water in any proportion and soluble in various organic solvents such as ether, acetone, esters, halogenated hydrocarbons, and aromatic hydrocarbons. It can mix completely with almost all solvents. Its boiling point is 204℃ and flash point is 91℃. It has strong moisture absorption, stable chemical properties, and is non-corrosive to carbon steel and aluminum, but slightly corrosive to copper. It boasts advantages such as low viscosity, good chemical and thermal stability, high polarity, low volatility, and infinite miscibility with water and many organic solvents. This product is classified as a mildly toxic substance, with an allowable limit concentration of 100PPM in the air.

N-methylpyrrolidone is a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a slight ammonia odor. It is miscible with water in any proportion and soluble in various organic solvents such as ether, acetone, esters, halogenated hydrocarbons, and aromatic hydrocarbons. It mixes almost completely with all solvents. It is relatively stable in neutral solutions; it gradually hydrolyzes in concentrated hydrochloric acid to produce 4-methylaminobutyric acid.
